• How Soon Is Too Soon To Find Love Again?

As well as hearing from many single and divorced people who would like to find a suitable partner, we also speak to a large number who have been widowed, and often after many very happy years with their late partner.

I have personally spoken to people very recently widowed who are still coming to terms with their loss and to others who have reached that decision that they would like to look to the future and who feel ready to share their lives again with someone new and to find love again.

I notice that there is no set time between losing a partner and feeling ready to move forwards into a new relationship. People respond so individually and circumstances are always in some sense, unique to every person.

We do not see any set time as reasonable that needs to elapse before someone is ready to meet a new partner. We do discuss with people how they are feeling about meeting someone new and if they feel ready. Very simply, when they feel ready, then it is the right time. We only have one life and it can feel empowering to grasp opportunities with both hands.

Some people are close to other family members and have discussed having a future relationship with a new partner with them. Others feel more comfortable deciding for themselves and this can depend upon the nature of our relationships within our existing family network. A healthy discussion of this delicate issue is worthy of consideration though, as it can really help in preparing the ground for introducing a new partner at some point in the future. We are here to help our members find new partners so we feel strongly that such choices and the direction anyone wishes to take in their future live is very much in the hands of the individual concerned.

If you are considering finding someone again after either a long relationship or a bereavement, you will find our staff are understanding to talk to and will not pressure you in any way.
